Uoki Sushi

Cost: 180-360 per plate. Location: JR Nagoya Station, at theSouth Exit.
Good quality, low price sushi- and they have an English menu to help you. You might need to order most of your food from the chefs, since the best stuff is not on the conveyer belt. It may not be the best sushi you will ever find, but the location and price is very convenient.

Nigiri No Tokube

Cost: 180-360 per plate. Location: Oasis 21, in Sakae.
You can walk there from the underground shopping mall. They offer all kinds of sushi, and also do tempura. You can even have tempura sushi. Again, this is not a place for sushi connoisseurs, but it has a great location and will really suit most foreigners and tourists.

Creperie Breizh (052-569-1185)

Cost: 500-1500yen per crepe. Location: Nagoya Station
This creperie is located on the 13th floor of Nagoya station but there is nothing unlucky about it. Just about every kind of crepe and galette you could think of, all cooked in the traditional Bretagne way. The crepes range in price from 500-1500yen, which is pretty good value, but the drinks are a bit more expensive. You can eat your meal on the open air terrace, which has a great view of the city.

L Auberge De I'Ill

Cost: 2,940yen-10,000yen. Location: Midland Square tower.
If you want to dine in luxury, this is the place.
The original L'Auberge restaurant in France has maintained the '3 Michelin star' rating for over 30 years. The Nagoya branch is located on the 42nd floor of Midland Square, with a superb view. It's a high class place, even at lunch, so it's best to make a reservation and dress accordingly. The cheapest lunch set costs 2,940 (which is a lot cheaper than the evening meals).

There's a Maitre d' looking over proceedings in the restaurant, so don't turn up looking too scruffy- or he might turn you away!

Wolfgang Puck is the official chef of the Academy Awards. He might not be there in person, but that doesn't stop them from serving up the best American food in Nagoya.
I had soup, a small roast chicken and then Mississippi mud pie. Another time I had a pure beef cheeseburger followed by white chocoloate cheesecake. It is top quality american food, although you need to watch those calories! The attentive waiters bring you as much soda, ice tea or coffee as you want.
Located on the 10th floor of the Aichi Arts Center, in Sakae, right next to Oasis 21.
It's open from 11:00-23:00 everyday except Mondays and National Holidays (when the whole arts center is closed)
