This year on May 23rd, the Walkathon passes its 19th year and our second year at Tsuruma Park, near Tsurumai Station. Every year the Nagoya Walkathon helps to build bridges between the Japanese and international communities by bringing together over two thousand members of those communities to raises money in support of vital work being conducted by local non profit and charitable organizations in the Chubu region. Last year, despite the down economy, the 2009 Walkathon raised 5.5 million yen in support of worthy organizations, and with your help we can reach our goal of 8 million yen this year. Besides being altruistic this event is a blast. Every year the Walkathon brings out the best in local foreign and Japanese bands and talents to entertain and enliven the more than 2000 people in the crowd, and with a selection of food that you will not find at any other festival in Japan, they never leave hungry either.
Come on out this year, and meet the charities that benefit from this Nagoya institution, and enjoy the fun, foods, music, and crowds that make this event special. This is our community too, so come out and support it!
